Rally for Iola 2020 Beautifully Replaces the Infamous Classic Car Show
There are not many midwestern car shows that can top Iola. Thousands of people gather every year for a weekend full of classic cars and trucks on display along with live music, and plenty of food and drink. The Iola car show has been taking place for nearly 5 decades.
2020 is not quite the same as years past as we all know by now. The Iola car show was unable to take place with its usual format, but that did not stop the Wisconsin based organizers from putting on an amazing event.
Instead of the typical show where cars and trucks are parked on the grass of the event grounds, the organizers put together a classic car and truck rally to show off all the classic rides and to raise funds for the historic non-profit Iola Car Show and Swap Meet. Every year nearly 3,000 volunteers donate time for their organizations and mare than 130 organizations receive money from each year’s show.
The Iola Rally took place on July 11th. Classic cars and trucks began lining up as early as 8am and by 10am, the rally began. Cars left for the 60-mile road cruise that took them on a parade through southern Wisconsin. The public was encouraged to safely stand out on the streets near their homes and enjoy the collector vehicles as they passed by.
It really was a triumph of spirit and a showcase of the organizers’ ingenuity to keep the legendary show alive. It was a huge success and they promise that next year’s show will be the best one yet!
