New Mopar Crate HEMI Engine Kits for Classic Cars

345-392

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas kicked off on Tuesday and runs through the end of the week (Nov. 1-4, 2016) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This show is the biggest and best automotive specialty products trade event on the planet.

Each year thousands upon thousands of invited attendees get to see the latest innovations in the automotive industry. This year is no exception and day one started off with breaking news from Mopar.

Mopar unveiled two new concept cars. The Dodge Shakedown Challenger and the Jeep CJ66. While both vehicles showcase an excellent mix of classic styling and new-age technology, the engines inside of each are stealing the show. Both of the concept cars are fitted with new HEMI crate engines that include new kits that are designed to fit classic Mopar vehicles.

Classic Mopar enthusiasts will now be able to fit modern HEMI Engines (5.7-liter or 6.4-liter) into classic Mopar Cars produced before 1975. The Mopar 345 Crate HEMI Engine Kit and Mopar 392 Crate HEMI Engine Kit are giving us the ability to combine modern day HEMI motors into our beloved muscle-car-era mopar vehicles like the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Plymouth ‘Cuda as well as many other Mopar makes and models.

Both kits (345 & 392) will include a power distribution center, a powertrain control module (PCM), engine and chassis wiring harnesses, an accelerator pedal, O2 sensors, ground jumper, charge air temperature sensor and in-depth information sheets on installation. Mopar will also offer optional front-end accessory kits like power steering or even exhaust manifolds to help provide an easier installation. There is a complete catalog full of engine parts and accessories available to make your kit engine build a success.

If you need more parts to complete your restoration you can visit the new restoration parts site, www.Mopar.com/restoration. Here you will be able to find thousands of parts from engine and electronic products to body components. You’ll find licensed, authentic parts needed to bring a classic Mopar back to life.

The two new concept cars on display at the SEMA Show both make use of the new HEMI engine kits. Pictured below is the Dodge Shakedown Challenger. This car clearly shows what is possible when body designs of the past meet design ques of the present. This 1971 Challenger body is blended with modern day suspension, transmission, exhaust and braking system. Under the hood is the all new 392 Crate HEMI Engine Kit to help administer the 6.4-liter HEMI.

The other creation featured by Mopar was the Jeep CJ66. It is comprised of a a Jeep Wrangler TJ frame, a 1966 Jeep Wrangler CJ universal Tuxedo Park body and has some Wrangler JK elements as well. Under the hood is the all new Mopar 345 Crate HEMI Engine Kit-enabled 5.7-liter HEMI. It is a well orchestrated mix of three generations of Jeep to show what can be done with this plug and play kit application.
