Rent a Classic Car on Hagerty’s New Website DriveShare.com

Renting a classic car or truck is by no means a new concept.  There are plenty of places to turn to if you are looking.  A few years ago we did an article on a company called Blacktop Candy that arranges classic car rentals along famous Route 66.  There are also other well known services like Turo and Getaround that have been doing well in the peer-to-peer car rental business.

So what is so special about this new website DriveShare.com?  Well, for starters it is owned by Hagerty.  For decades now, Hagerty has been the leader in insuring classic cars and other recreational vehicles.  They have also become the gold standard for current classic car valuations and market trend insights in the collector car industry.

DriveShare originally started out as Classics&Exotics, a peer-to-peer rental service located in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Hagerty realized the success they could find using their brand recognition and quickly acquired Classics&Exotics.  They then re-branded it and are now launching it to the public as DriveShare.

“I started this company so people could try out these amazing vehicles and owners could make a little money to defray the cost of ownership, and that’s still the mission today for DriveShare,” said Classics&Exotics founder Peter Zawadzki, now director of DriveShare. “It’s a great way to bring more people into the hobby. What we’ve seen is that people who rent these cars often become classic car owners themselves.”

McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty continued with “Our goal is to provide a common platform that connects enthusiasts and owners to expand the community of people who love cars.”

While there aren’t that many vehicles available yet, there are high hopes that the website will soon be full of classics and exotics available for rent with just a few keystrokes and clicks.  An online search for vehicles in Texas only resulted in 15 search results.  With Hagerty’s name behind this program however, we are certain that number will skyrocket.

Do you have a classic Camaro or a vintage Ford truck that sits in your garage most of the year?  Would you would like to make some extra cash by letting it out a few days of the year? Then DriveShare is the place to list your vintage vehicle.

Maybe you are on the other side of the coin and are looking for a convertible classic to cruise for the weekend.  Again DriveShare is the first place you should check.  Keep an eye on this company as it is projected to become the go-to place to rent your dream car.
