Our 10 Favorite Trucks of All Time

jeep
1963-1987 Jeep Gladiator and J-Series trucks
Jeep released the Gladiator to provide customers with a full size pickup. Earlier Jeep trucks weren’t nearly as modern. This design was so revolutionary for Jeep that, other than some styling changes, it remained in production relatively unchanged for 24 years.

highboy
1967-1977 Ford F-250 “Highboy”
Come on! One look at this beast and it is easy to see why it made the list! It is one of the burliest trucks ever made. It had a bullet proof drivetrain and was raised to the sky. 35 inch tires easily fit without having to touch the suspension which really couldn’t be done on other trucks of that era.

napco
1942-1959 Napco Chevy and GMC Trucks
GMC originally didn’t produce 4WD trucks in the 40s and 50s. Instead they left it up to a Minnesota company called Northwest Auto Parts Company (NAPCO). They produced conversion kits for GMC trucks so owners could convert their 2WD trucks into 4WD. NAPCO offered the same kits for Ford trucks as well.

scout
1971-1980 International Scout II
This classic SUV was a big competitor for Jeep and it is easy to understand if you ever get behind the wheel of one of these. The original Scout was one of the most popular off-road vehicles produced during the 60s. Today collectors still yearn to add this Scout II to their collections.

bronco
1971-1975 Ford Baja Bronco
Broncos are one of the most recognizable 4WD vehicles ever produced. The limited edition Baja Bronco was the ultimate version! It was powered by a 302 cubic inch V8 and driven by a C4 automatic transmission. The rear wheel wells were expanded with fender flares to accommodate larger tires. There were plenty of accessory upgrades available for this off-road king including a roll cage, tougher suspension and a winch for those more adventurous trailblazers.

power-wagon
1946-1968 Dodge Power Wagon
A picture is worth a thousand words and this picture is clearly saying “I might be shiny and red, but I am ready for war”! That isn’t too far from the truth! This was the first 4WD truck available to American consumers and it was based off the WC-series Dodge three-quarter-ton truck used in WWII.

express
1978-1979 Dodge Lil’ Red Express Truck
Believe it or not this was the fastest vehicle you could buy in 1978 from 0-100mph. Dodge put a 360 cubic inch V8 that was intended for police cars into the Express except they tuned it even more. It was a true muscle truck with 225 hp and 295 lb-ft torque. Racing rims, semi-truck exhaust stacks and custom graphics finished this beast off making it more show truck than workhorse.

f-100
1953-1956 F-100
The second generation Ford pickups are classic masterpieces in our opinion. Many purists argue that the first generation F1 trucks are the true gems, but sitting them side by side we will pick the second generation F-100 every time. To us the design upgrades are what make this one of the greatest classic trucks of all time.

chevy-gmc
1967-1972 Chevy and GMC pickups
Here is another iconic American classic truck with undeniable design lines. You can tell it is a GMC truck coming down the road from blocks away. Compared to the earlier trucks from Chevy and GMC these were designed for the “Average Joe” with muscle in mind. It has a lower stance and is much easier to drive than its predecessors. Look close and you can see hints of the first Chevy Blazer. That’s because these trucks were the basis for them.

top-hand
1978 Dodge Power Wagon Top Hand
The color scheme of this rare truck tells you it came straight out of the late 70s. The Top Hand 4WD package was available for Dodge trucks, Ramcharger and the Plymouth Trailduster. Vic Hickey, legendary off-road racer, helped deign these ultra cool 4X4s. There were tons of extra accessories that could be added on from Hickey’s catalog. It is an unbelievably rare so good luck ever finding one. Less than 500 were ever produced.
