Classic Car Event, “Hot August Nights”, Starts August 6 in Reno
The biggest little city in the world is getting geared up for its 31st Annual Hot August Nights celebration. Reno, Nevada will be celebrating its love of cars and rock & roll nostalgia at the largest classic car and nostalgic event in the country, August 7 -13. For 6 days the festival will be packed with more than 6,000 classic vehicles to admire! Show-n-Shines, drag races, controlled cruises, concerts, a swap meet, fireworks, and classic car auction are just a few of the “cool” activities.
What started as a local gathering at the Reno Sparks Convention Center in 1986 now draws over 800,000 people during the week-long festivities. Hot August Nights celebrates the 50s and 60s by showcasing the best of the best in classic cars, all to the sounds of yesteryear rock and roll.
It’s Americana at its finest! This really is a not-to-miss event and is the largest event in the Reno area each year. If you can’t wait to get the party started, you can join the preliminary kickoff event in Nevada’s historic town of Virginia City. (August 4-5)
The cars aren’t the only stars of the show. This year there will be plenty of acts that are certain to keep the party going! The 31st annual event will be headlined by internationally known artists Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Rick Springfield and Johnny Rivers, who will grace the Grand Sierra Resort outdoor stage for free performances.
There are so many special events, contests, and award ceremonies going on we cannot even begin to list them. You will just have to check out the list of events for yourself. You can also keep up with Hot August Nights on social media through the dedicated Facebook page.
This event isn’t just about fun in the summer sun. It is also about raising money for local charities and Hot August Nights does a fantastic job of supporting the community. If you are feeling generous you should definitely join the Hot August Nights Foundation for an evening of fun, food and cocktails to raise money for northern Nevada’s under-served children/youth. The event, Classics & Cocktails, features a sit-down dinner provided by Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, cocktails, live entertainment, live and silent auction, and raffle. Funds raised from the event will be given to children/youth in northern Nevada in the form of scholarship grants for continuing or high education.
So what are you waiting for? Get on over to Reno and enjoy one of America’s greatest events of the year!
