8 Cool Classic Trucks That Are Less Than $10,000

Our friends over at Hagerty have done it again. They have been combing the vintage car & truck world for the best buys of the year. After completing their research they were able to come up with eight awesome trucks that are classics, yet still affordable for most.

Here is the list of 8 vintage trucks that are still under $10,000 in average condition…

1973-1979 Ford F-Series
Average Condition: $6,300
Continuing with the redesigned version of the fourth generation F-series’ platform, the 6th generation came with a lot of improvements including front disc brakes, more room in the cab, a double-walled bed, and the gas tank was repositioned. These trucks are still relatively inexpensive with median prices at $6300. Be sure to inspect any you might purchase for rust. Despite using more galvanized steel, they are still susceptible to corrosion issues.

1973-1987 Chevrolet C/K series pickup
Average Condition: $7,400
Chevy lovers will be happy to know that the Ford pickup’s competition has also seen a spike in popularity. While Chevy’s 3rd generation truck soldiered on for eight more years than Ford’s, there was a mid-cycle refresh in 1981. Earlier third-gens are pricier though, and if you’re interested in one of these American working heroes, find the cleanest one you can. Median values are $7400 for clean, solid drivers.

1960-1966 Chevrolet C/K series pickup
Average Condition: $8,800
The Chevrolet C/K series made its debut in 1960. If you didn’t already know, the C model was two-wheel drive and the K was the four-wheel drive version. There seems to be a lot of buzz around these trucks lately according to Hagerty. While the 1973-1987 trucks are a little cheaper, you can still pick one up for less than $10,000.

1973-1991 Chevrolet C/K Blazer
Average Condition: $8,400
American trucks are hot this year and the list continues with another truck, the Chevy Blazer. The Blazer is one of the earliest enclosed trucks we now know as an SUV. That acronym wasn’t even spoken yet when these were released. The 2nd generation Blazers are really popular right now. With a median value of $8400, it’s easy to understand why there popularity is rising.

1946-1949 Willys-Jeep CJ2A
Average Condition: $8,800
These CJs ( Civilian Jeeps) were based on the same jeeps that helped win WWII. The CJ-2A was a no-frills civilian work vehicle. Over 214,000 of these American icons rolled off the assembly line and they are as popular as ever. If you are interested in one, now is the time as prices are steadily rising.

1978-1987 Chevrolet El Camino
Average Condition: $8,200
In our opinion, if it has a bed, it’s a truck. Despite being based off of a Chevy Malibu, the 5th generation ( all generations in our opinion) are awesome! We aren’t the only ones that think so either. It won’t be long and finding a decent one of these for under $10K will be difficult. Median price for an average condition is $8,200 which is almost hard to believe. Get one while the getting is good!

1957-1960 Ford F-series
Average Condition: $9,900
Even though this is a 3rd generation F-Series, this was considered by many as Ford’s first modern pickup truck. These trucks are extremely popular with collectors and enthusiasts and barely made the cut. An average 1957-1960 Ford pickup is going to run around $9,900. By this time next year, we doubt it will be able to make the list.

1972-1980 Dodge D/W Series Pickups
Average Condition: $7,800
Some of the D/W series pickups are well over the $10,000 mark. Dodge’s “Li’l Red Express” pickup and other special editions included the “Warlock,” the “Macho Power Wagon Top Hand,” and the “Midnite Express,” which was only available in 1978. While these special edition pickups are already pretty pricey, these D/W Series pickups are still relatively cheap.
