Projects at Wilson Auto During April 2016

Summer is right around the corner and we are working on a lot of restoration projects at Wilson Auto Repair so our classic car clients can get out and enjoy the summer with their classic cars and trucks. April has been a busy month for us and we would like to give you an inside look at two projects we have going on at the shop.

First we would like to welcome the newest member of our family.  We purchased this Shoebox from a customer.  The term “shoebox” typically refers to the full-sized Chevrolet sedans offered from 1955 to 1957.

These photos show a new floor we are installing in a Mustang.  We think it is kinda neat to see how it is all screwed down to get a good fit before we weld it to the floor.

This project is a continuation from last month’s article showing projects at Wilson Auto Repair.

Here are a couple quick shots from a Ford Thunderbird that we are working on…

The remaining pics are of the underside of a vehicle we are working on.  You can see what it looked like when it came to us in the first picture.

Then we get it set up in the rig so we can get it cleaned up and start working on it.

Then we are going to tape off the whole thing so we can paint the frame.  You can see how clean we had to get the underside.  It took lots of work!

With everything taped off we can now paint the frame.

The gray is the eventual color of the car.  Now it is time to paint the rest of it a dark red which will be the accent color on the car. We became obsessed with getting this to look perfect.  The underside took almost six weeks to do, but we are very happy with the results!
